Summer Concert!

This past weekend we went to a concernt at USANA and saw Cheap Trick, Heart and Journey. Well, we really didn't see Cheap Trick--we were late to the concert and they were playing their last song as we walked in. Heart was good and Journey was great. They have so many great songs and it brought back a lot of memories--especially of high school. The new lead singer, Arnel Pineda, was fabulous. Apparently Journey's old lead singer left the band and so one of the guitarists was looking on YouTube for new talent and a new lead singer and he discovered Arnel on You Tube. Arnel was in a band in the Philippines and was asked by Journey to audition for the their band. Arnel thought it was a hoax, but finally answered the request and soon joined the band. Wow to be an unknown and then to be the lead singer in one of the best and longest running rock bands still touring around the world. Anyway, it was fun. Except it was kind of weird because after the concert we saw 4 fights in the grass area and in the parking lot. Their were a lot of intoxicated people around and we attributed the fights and aggression to alcohol. We also had some free "entertainment" and "dancing" during the concert with some who had consumed a little too much alcohol.
(The pic is of Journey and Arnel is the one in the front of the photo who looks, well Philipino.)

Food Storage--YEAH!

Last Saturday Ned's sister got the canner machine from the Welfare Center and invited us all to can food storage with her. So we had Rick and Angie, Ned Sr. and Pat, Ned and I, Brooke and Andy and Kaila and Michael working together and helping each other. It was hard work and very hot. We made an assembly line in our garage and canned wheat, rice, powdered mile, sugar, potato flakes, oats, apple flakes, onion flakes and other things. It feels so good to have our food storage started. And, it has got me more excited to work on it a little more and to get a years supply. The leadership of the church has continually warned us to be prepared and to store up. So everyone start working on theirs too. Hopefully, we won't have a time of need, but I'm afraid we may.

BACA

BACA--Bikers Against Child Abuse. J.P. Lilly started this motorcycle club as a way to empower, and protect abused children. As a young boy who was bullied, J.P. had the protection and friendship of the Hells Angels. I was able to hear J.P. speak for a couple hours the other day and he told us about that story with the Hells Angels. If BACA intimidates perpetrators in the process of helping these kids--that is even better. J.P. talked about how he does Play Therapy with children and he also talked about why and how he started BACA and he also brought two of his biker dudes in with him--Horace and Og. We got to hear what they had to say too. If you want to get on their website, they have another good video that shows some of what they do for children. Below I attached a one minute video. Love these guys. Can you imagine some child, who has to testify in court, in the presence of their abuser? Also imagine 10, 20, 30 Bikers sitting in the court room as a support to a child.

BACA

Dr. Phil--How many of you have a favorite therapist? This is mine! "Hows that working for ya?"

How can you help but love this guy? My great son in law--he has so skillfully fit in with our family and has learned to work the camera!

We love you SueAnn!

I think it is such a blessing that us girls got to go spend some time with SueAnn before she passed on--that was a fun day and I think it was for SueAnn also. I also know that the Lord gave us the opportunity to spend some one on one time with her. I know we thought we were serving her, but she was really teaching us some things we needed to learn. I think she stayed around, not for her sake, but for all of us who knew her. Life is precious and we never know when one of us is going to leave this earth. I'm looking forward to celebrating SueAnn's life tomorrow at her funeral. I'm also looking forward to seeing all the family.

loser blogger person

Okay, I admit it, I just like to read and look at all your blogs, but stink at my own blog. In my defense, my home computer is crap--I can't seem to download pics anymore and it disconnects constantly--working on getting a new one. These blogs are great--we can keep connected so well. I will try to update mine more often when I get new computer. Love you all.
