Okay, I do know these people, they is my people. Me, Hudson and Zac.

And, my favorite pic of all........

Crazy Wendell (he forgot to take his meds that day).

Kaila is here! Roman is saying "Nana" perfectly now.

I'm sooooooooo happy my girl and her baby are here in Provo to play and visit and hang out!

Staycation

Started out "Staycation" in SLC at the Gallivan center at a concernt; "Toad the Wet Sprocket". You say you've never heard of them?

It's one of Neds fav groups.

We hung out in SLC all day the next day. Rode tracks, ate THE BEST food at Brugees across the street from Pioneer Park. Went to Anthropology (I NEVER buy anything there, but it's fun to look).

Got my pic taken with one of my favorite authors and speakers, Sheri Dew (it's a church thing).
That evening we went to the play "The Civil War" playing in Woods Cross.

Then we headed to Park City. We started at the Olympic museum and then watched the Aerial Freestyle Jumping team. It's every Saturday at 1:00pm and it's $10.oo (each). It was fun.

On main street they had different bands play all day. We spent some time listening to them.

Went to my favorite Park City Book Store, Dolly's. I love to browse the books and pet the Kitty that hangs out in the store.

Ate lunch here~delish.

Stayed overnight and then explored the city more. We rode the tram that you can get on right off of main street. It was beautiful!

Headed up the beautiful mountain.

Ned and I make great traveling companions. I love exploring with him and I love him...

Bought this book because my Hormone/Weight Loss/Nutrition Guru told me to.
Great book and I got a little excited about the philosophies and recipes and went to the store and bought some health food.

And bought and bought...

I brought Ned along to help.

And he kept asking me how much of this will rot and end up in the garbage.

I did go a little crazy, maybe.

I'm proud to say I used most of it within two weeks and tried a lot of recipes from the book and from other health food websites.

Oh and I've been watching "Green Smoothie Girl" a lot on You Tube.

I'm a hardcore Green Smoothie drinker now....

Do you want to know what is in this smoothie? Okay here goes; Kale, Swiss Chard, Collard Greens, Alfalfa Sprouts, Carrot Joice, Soy Milk, Frozen Banana, Frozen Strawberries and a few slices of frozen Peaches... It looks weird, but tastes fresh and green and healthy. I love it, you should try one?

Intuitive Eating!

I'm always trying to eat healthier. Today I made some food from my new cookbook "Faves" by Melissa Chappell of Raw Melissa. Here are two foods I tried (in the above pictures) The first picture is of Spring Rolls in dipping sauce (really healthy and tasty). The second one picture is of Chocolate Peppermint Fudge. It just has Cocoa power, agave, coconut oil and peppermint oil (Brooke, she suggested to use Doterra oil and I was happy I had some to use.)
I was able to also hear Melissa speak and I was really inspired after hearing her. She mostly talked about intuitive and purposeful eating;

Eat when your hungry and stop when your full (wow, do we really have to be told that?). It's alot about listening to what your body is hungry for (good whole foods, or maybe it's just thirsty or tired)

Eat good fats, (avacado, nuts, olive oil, coconut oil they actually help us metabolize fat)

Eat whole foods whenever possible, nuts, fruits, veggies, whole grains, eggs, honey, etc...

NO GUILT~if you have a treat, just enjoy every bite and don't over do it. There really are a lot of whole foods treats such as smoothies, my fudge seen above and more.

When we start eating better, we stop having the cravings for crap and processed foods. REALLY, I have had this happen. You start craving good stuff.

Love your body and what it has been through with you, done for you, given you.

This is just some of her teachings, she said it so much better and more inspirational than I have tried to convey here. I'm trying a smoothie tomorrow and I will share the recipe with you!

Books and a movie

I just finished this book, "These is my Words". I loved the book. It's a fictional book of journal entries of a woman who lived in the 1800's. Great writing; fun and romantic and amazing reading about what life in the American West might have been like for a woman.
We watched this movie the other night, "Temple Grandin". It is a must see~really! I was moved and inspired by this movie that was based on the life of an autistic girl. I was told by several people to watch it and I'm so glad I did.

I was talking with my manager/boss the other day pondering why people do the stuff they do. I've always had that searing question in my mind and that is why I wanted to be a psychologist. Until I learned that to really do anything with that degree, you have to have a doctorate~
In particular, I was talking to bossman about criminal/abusive/violent behavior and he went and got this book off his bookshelf ("Why They Kill") and said I might want to read it. Lovely. Looks like an uplifting read. I started it last night. I really don't need to put any more crap in my mind, but it's where my interest/work is. Daily, I work with people who are struggling with so many problems. Just this week I have been working with two suicidal students~one who thinks the Neo Natzi's are after him, been to two sleazy motels, worked with a student who said his mom had died and she hadn't, worked with a student who said she was pregnant and has miscarried at school and she hadn't, worked with parents who don't give a crap about their children or who are abusive and neglectful of their children. No one really likes to see me at their doorstep. I also got calls on a teacher who's daughter committed suicide and another several cases where the parent wants help because they can't control their daughter's who are running with/sleeping with older men. Get the picture. Some weeks, it just gets to me and I wonder how long I can do the job. Whew, I've just been feeling like I need to unload some of this emotion off my chest... I sometimes joke that my next job will be a flower delivery person. Firstly, people would LOVE to see me at their door, I would make them happy and they would smile and laugh and say "come back anytime!"

Shopping and Social Work

Shopping Spree...
It's what I consider a shopping spree anyway. $40.00 dollars of fun. That is what is fun to me~buying two or three things for a cheap price. I got 3 pair of earings from Forever 21 for $1.50 a piece. Then I got a few more things from Icing, the store (cute blue and copper nail polish). Do you see the ring in the middle? It's the princess Diana ring which is now a new hot item because of Prince William and Kate Middleton. My ring was a touch less expensive than the royal version; $12.00.

My LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker)This sweet little puppy is the culmination of about 15 years of work. I always just wanted to be a stay at home mom, but an unexpected turn came around for me in my life and I knew I had to get a career. I decided I wanted to have my masters in Social Work and I knew it would take about 3 years to get my bachelors degree and about 2 years for my masters degree and then 2-3 more years to get my LCSW license. It has been a 15 year journey for me (since I worked for a few years in-between my bachelors and masters). I'm so happy I'm at the end of obtaining this piece of paper, that represents all my hard work, and this goal for myself.
